Through consistent messaging and language, you can connect your brand/business not only to the mission of the FSC — but to issues that matter to all of us.


Be Positive

When customers choose FSC, they are making a meaningful impact on our forest ecosystems — ecosystems that ensure our air & water quality, wildlife diversity and so much more. We’ll ask them to take action by focusing on the good they’re doing vs. compelling them to act out of fear and the weight of responsibility.

For example
“Purchase positively. When you choose FSC, you make forests stronger for all.”

Communicate Ease

We don’t expect customers to know everything about the FSC, responsible forest practices and/or the state of the world’s forests. Instead, we’ll ask them to simply look for the FSC mark on their paper- and wood-based products and communicate the difference it can make.

For example
“One simple action can have a profound impact. When you look for the FSC mark on [insert brand name] products, you help protect our forest ecosystems.”

Speak to the Future

Customers actively ensure the health of the forest for future generations when they support FSC. We’ll let them know of the legacy they are forging when they choose FSC.

For example
“Purchasing this product supports the Forest Stewardship Council’s mission to preserve the forest for future generations.”

Speak to the Movement

When people feel that there is forward momentum behind a cause, they’re more likely to join as well.

For example
“Look for the FSC mark. And join the countless individuals, organizations and corporations who support the Forest Stewardship Council’s mission to preserve the forest for future generations.”

Be Brief

The less explaining we do, the better. Instead succinctly articulate the value of the FSC and the customer’s role in supporting it.

For example
““Look for the FSC mark on your paper and wood-based products. And ensure the health of forests for all, forever.”

Using FSC vs. Forest Stewardship Council

Use FSC when speaking of the mark and consumer actions. Use Forest Stewardship Council when describing the mission and goals of the organization.

For example
“Purchasing this product supports the Forest Stewardship Council’s mission to preserve the forest for future generations.”
